The Air Mobility Command (AMC) contingent, led by Major General. Gary McCue, Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, announced that they will meet with students of Alaska Military Youth Academy to demonstrate opportunities the Air and Space Force provides as well as showcase life as an AMC Airmen.
INET is one of seven teams under the Department of the Air Force Barrier Analysis Working Group (DAFBAWG) and received its Charter in March of 2021, with the vision of a community of Indigenous Peoples preserving a legacy of honor through humble advancement in service to their nation and the preservation of traditions and respect for all.
The mission of Indigenous Nations Equality Team (INET) is to provide key advocacy for American Indian and Alaskan Natives (AI/AN) within the Air Force and Space Force through policy changes, recruitment and outreach, and community support, to preserve culture and honor traditions. For most recruiting events, participating INET members received an exception to policy to wear regalia, demonstrating professional appearance and honoring their respective tribe’s culture.
“INET has been instrumental in providing a bridge for the Department of the Air Force to engage with youth from tribal communities,” said Col. Layne Trosper, Air Force Recruiting Service deputy commander. “They brought us in and shared their community with us and gave Air Force recruiters an opportunity to educate students about opportunities in the Air Force and Space Force.”
Static aircraft will be on display and Airmen will be available to answer community member’s questions.
The event is part of Air Mobility Command’s “Warriors Recruiting Warriors” initiative, which focuses on overcoming barriers to Native Americans in military service. Previous trips for this diversity and inclusion initiative have included visits to North Dakoka and Arizona tribal lands.
