KNIK RIVER — An air ambulance flew an injured man to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center after an off road crash Saturday in the Knik River Public Use Area.
According to an Alaska State Trooper press statement, Cody Eicher, an airman stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, was thrown from a Yamaha dirt bike just before 10 a.m. in the popular recreation destination. He was unconscious when troopers arrived.
“Medics responded to the scene via helicopter and transported Eicher to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries,” according to the press statement.
Troopers say they believe alcohol played a role in the crash and are investigating. Charges had not been filed as of Monday, according to court records.
