Alaska airports set to receive over $25M in grant funding

On August 6, 2024, Representative Mary Sattler Peltola announced $25,207,700 in Airport Improvement Program Grants. She previously voted to fund under FY24 government funding bills. These grants will help replace, reseal, and rehabilitate airport runways and update other necessary and long overdue infrastructure for safe air travel.

“Roughly 85% of Alaskan communities aren’t on the road system–we need to make sure our airports are safe and efficient,” said Representative Peltola.

While much of the funding will go to airports throughout the state, here in the Mat-Su Borough, the Talkeetna Airport is set to receive $206,250.

“This funding will help strengthen the airport infrastructure on which we rely so heavily in Alaska.”
