Officials from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson announced that the Alaska Army National Guard will participate in Alyeska Resort’s Military Monday in Girdwood on March 3, an event dedicated to honoring military service members and their families.
As part of Military Monday, active duty, retired military and veterans, along with their families, are eligible for a free lift ticket to enjoy skiing and snowboarding at Alyeska Resort. The event offers free lift tickets — and other deals — to active duty and retired service members and their families, and it's a beloved tradition at the resort. The Alaska Army National Guard will be setting up an information booth and a Black Hawk helicopter display. There will also be a brief Black Hawk flight demonstration
Additionally, there will be special rates on rentals, discounts on retail purchases and exclusive lodging offers.
Military Monday has been a decade-long tradition at Alyeska Resort, introducing thousands of service members and their families to the joy of winter in Alaska. It also gives service members a chance to explore options for continuing their military service with the Alaska Army National Guard while pursuing civilian careers and education. Alaskans also have an opportunity to connect with Army Guard Soldiers, learn more about career paths and see firsthand the Guard’s role in serving both the state and the nation.
The Guard will also be flying in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, which will be on display near the Alyeska Resort Daylodge, giving attendees the chance to connect with Guard personnel and take part in an exclusive giveaway. Girdwood residents can expect to hear the helicopter during the morning arrival and afternoon departure.
“Alyeska Resort is proud to continue our tradition of honoring service members through Military Monday," said Kara Edwards, general manager at Alyeska Resort. "For more than 10 years, we’ve welcomed the military community as a small token of appreciation for their dedication. We are excited to host the Alaska Army National Guard this year and give attendees the opportunity to engage with Guard personnel while enjoying a day on the slopes.”
The Alaska Army National Guard’s participation in this event is part of its broader mission to support service members, engage with the community and provide information to those interested in joining.
