WASILLA — Alaska Chicks Co. is celebrating the sixth anniversary of the Wasilla store Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There will be special giveaways, sales on merchandise, and double loyalty points throughout the event. Alaska Chicks owner Charity Folcik said it’s an opportunity to thank the community for the continued support that helped them get where they are today.

“Our customers are our biggest support,” Folcik said.

Alaska Chicks was one of the first stores to occupy the rebranded Clock Tower facility. Folcik said it’s been a great opportunity and she appreciates the vision the new Clock Tower owners have for the downtown shopping center.

“We’re really pleased with the location and the progress the clock tower has made,” Folcik said.

This brings Alaska Chicks to three total stores in the state. There’s a store in Eagle River, and a new store recently opened in downtown Palmer near Pizza Delphi.

“I feel like it saves people driving time,” Folcik said.

Folcik started Alaska Chicks in 2010, using her PFD to start up the business. She said it all started with her selling various wares at Friday Fling. People kept requesting more products and she decided to take it to the next level and see where she could take it.

“I wanted to build a brand that would uplift the women of Alaska,” Folcik said.

Folcik said that she’s thrilled with how far she’s come since she started. She said it’s all thanks to her dedicated staff and the steady stream of customers.

“I’m really happy about it. I’m really thankful for the community support,” Folcik said. “I was just in it for fun. I never would have thought that I would have three stores. I feel very blessed.”

Keyrin Baker is a sales associate at the Alaska Chicks store in Wasilla. She said the people are what makes this job so enjoyable.

“I made some of my closest friends here. It’s a super healthy environment,” Baker said.

Baker said it’s exciting that the store is reaching its sixth anniversary. She said it reflects the notable growth and reach Alaska Chicks has gained over the years.

“It’s amazing how much it’s grown,” Baker said. “It’s kind of nice that it all started from one woman. It’s amazing. It just totally blew up. It’s awesome that one person can accomplish that.”

Baker noted that a majority of the items are catered to women, they also carry items for men and children.

“I like that we have a little bit of everything,” Baker said.
