Alaska has 118 new COVID-19 cases

MAT-SU — On Friday, 118 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Alaska, and 5,092 cases have been identified thus far during the coronavirus pandemic. A total of 339,538 tests have been conducted statewide and 213 people have been hospitalized, resulting in 37 deaths. Of the 5,092 total cases, 1,992 are listed as recovered and 3,062 remain active.

Mat-Su Borough mobile testing sites have conducted 314 total tests with three new positives identified today. A mobile clinic conducting tests at the Butte Fire Station on Thursday was the 19th set up by the borough.

“Due to the low volume at our mobile clinics we have no more planned, however we are in a ready state if the need or request arises,” said Mat-Su Borough Department of Emergency Services Director Ken Barkley.

In the Mat-Su Valley, 469 total cases of COVID-19 have been reported. Wasilla has had 279 in all five of their reporting zip codes and 172 remain active, while Palmer has had 131 total and 70 remain active. Of the 469 total cases in the Mat-Su Borough, 273 remain active and seven are attributed to nonresidents. A total of 21,580 tests have been conducted in the Mat-Su Valley and 91 have been conducted in the last three days. At Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, three people are currently hospitalized as covid positive. Of the 14 available Intensive Care Unit beds, 11 are currently in use and six of the 11 ventilators on hand are in use.
