WASILLA — The Alaska Mental Health Board and Advisory Board on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse meets in Wasilla May 11-13 to share information on mental health and substance abuse issues in the community and statewide.
Opportunities for public comment are planned from 4:30-5:30 p.m., May 11, at the Palmer Library, 655 S. Valley Way, and from 4:30-5:30 p.m., May 12, at the Best Western Lake Lucille Inn in Wasilla.

Both organizations were created by statute to provide advice, education, planning and coordination related to Alaska’s public behavioral health system. The boards also provide advocacy for Alaskans affected by mental illness and/or substance abuse.
The Mat-Su Valley meeting will offer members of the public an opportunity to learn about the boards and offer comments on issues related to mental health and/or alcoholism and drug abuse.
The three-day meeting includes presentations on the Alaska Wellness Coalition; the 2015 Federal Legislation and Policy Session; the Alaska Behavioral Health Association; Southcentral Foundation Behavioral Health Care Integration Project: Quyana Clubhouse; Mat-Su Health Foundation; Behavioral Health Scan; Alaska Psychiatric Institute; Mat-Su Borough Health and Social Services Commission; and Mat-Su Community Action Planning Group.
