Alaska Raceway enters first round of voting for NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Advance My Track Challenge

WASILLA — Alaska Raceway Park is once again participating in the 2023 NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Advance My Track Challenge.

The first round of voting is now open and runs through Friday, May 5.

Alaska Raceway is entering for the chance to win $50,000 for track improvements.

Alaska Raceway has won third and second place in the past two years, making various upgrades such as installing a playground and new race equipment.

Alaska Raceway owner Michelle Lackey Maynor said that she's excited about the opportunity to win and use the funds to improve the facility.

"It's our turn to be number one," Lackey Maynor said.

Lackey Maynor said they're planning to install parking for motorcycles and expand the pit area if they win. She said it all comes down to voting.

"We're going to need everyone's help doing it," Lackey Maynor said.

Alaska Raceway is the only NASCAR and NHRA-sanctioned track in Alaska and is the capital of racing in Alaska. Lackey Maynor said they have a unique and beautiful area with a strong following of supporters.

"It's the people out here. They're helping us get the word out. We have a really really strong connection with our people and that's what's going to make the difference," Lackey Maynor said.

The first round of voting allows people to vote three times a day at advancemytrack.com.

Finalists for round two will be announced on May 8th and the second round of voting takes place from May 9 to 15
