BUTTE — Hundreds of vehicles of all shapes and sizes cycled through the Alaska Raceway Park over Independence Day weekend for Top Eliminator races and a show and shine hosted co-hosted by Rev Alaska.
According to Alaska Raceway Park owner Michelle Lackey Maynor, 214 participants brought hot rods, race cars, muscle cars, motorcycles, and everything in between to the 1320Video Meet and Greet Show and Shine event Sunday, July 3.
“If it had a motor and wheels, it was there. It was really exciting to see,” Lackey Maynor said.
1320Video is a group that highlights racing events and venues across the country. Lackey Maynor said the national exposure was much appreciated.
“It was a fantastic opportunity for the track,” Lackey Maynor said.
Lackey noted that this weekend was a particularly unique opportunity since so many different race classes were present at the same time. She said they rarely get to see that overlap and it showcased all the different kinds of racing enthusiasts from across the state.
“We had everyone under one roof this weekend. It was just beyond amazing to have everybody here,” Lackey Maynor said.
Alaska Raceway Park is currently midway through the 2022 race season. Lackey Maynor said it’s bittersweet to be at this point because it’s been so much fun seeing so many people frequent their grounds but it also means they’re half the way to the end. She said that she cherishes the opportunity to keep motorsports alive and well in Alaska.
“It’s really rewarding,” Lackey Maynor said.
Alaska Raceway Park is hosting a variety of racing events and community events for the rest of the season. Racers score points for their respective classes with a top winner declared at the end of the season which concludes Labor Day weekend. The annual awards banquet is scheduled for Sept. 24.
