Alaska should create its own oil company

To the editor:

Alaska needs to create its own oil company like Norway has. If we compare the Norwegian oil field development model to the Alaskan oil field development model, we can reasonably see that in the next two years the Norwegians will put billions of more dollars into their saving accounts while Alaska will have withdrawn billions of dollars from its savings accounts. If Alaska creates its own oil company, then it will be able to keep all of the money from its oil development. Alaska needs to develop its own oil now while it still can. If Alaska waits for a couple of years, it will have spent most of its savings and will have no money to develop its own oil. We will have passed the point of no return.

Now, some might say Alaska will flub it up and fail. However, if Alaska uses the Norwegian oil field development model, or hires the Norwegians to run the Alaska oil company for us, then we will be on the road to prosperity like the Norwegians are.

Alaska has oil fields that are not developed and will not be developed two years from now. But if Alaska creates its own oil company, then it can go out and develop them. Oil companies are laying off oil field workers now. Alaska can put them to work with its own oil company.

No one is going to save us from the coming economic depression. We can rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic and do a few small things to manage our decline, but in the end, we are going to get it. There is a saying, if you continue to think like you have always thought, you will continue to get what you have always got. Is it what you want? If we don’t drastically change our thoughts, we are going to go bankrupt. Everyone who was in the military learned their six P’s. Prior planning prevents, piss-poor performance.
