PALMER — The Alaska State Fair recently announced that the $5 general parking fee will be waived during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Glenn Highway improvements are scheduled for the next two years. Since construction could interfere with visitor traffic, ASF opted to offer free parking.
According to a recent press release, this is the first time that general parking has been free to fairgoers in years. Fair officials indicated that they're optimistic this course of action will ease the flow of vehicles that won't have to stop to pay the parking fee or scan parking tickets.
Parking will be available in the purple, red, yellow, and brown parking lots on a first-come, first-served basis. Premier parking and camping is still available for a fee.
2023 Fairgoers have until August 17 to purchase discounted admission tickets online.
Discount admission can also be obtained by attending special discount days such as Three-Buck Thursday, GCI Kids Day, Alaska Airline’s #Club49 Family Day, Buddy Day, Military Appreciation Day, and First Responder’s Day.
The 2023 Alaska State Fair season runs from August 18 to September 4. The gates will be open from 12 to 10 p.m. The Fair will be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
