Alaska State Fair presenting Bright Up the Night holiday light display

PALMER — The Alaska State Fair is hosting the annual Bright Up the Night holiday light display through Dec. 31.

This festive drive-through experience features a diverse arrangement of flickering light displays. Guests can also tune into a designated station through their vehicle radios to listen to holiday-themed music as they make their way through the spectacle of lights.

Fair CEO Jeff Curtis said the event is a great way to spread the holiday spirit and continue their efforts hosting a variety of events throughout the year beyond the Fair season.

“I think it's a wonderful opportunity," Curtis said.”The Fairgrounds is a great venue for public use.”

The display features over 70 different light displays spanning the entire length of the fairgrounds, from the Purple Gate through the Green Gate.

“It's storytelling through lights," Curtis said. "It's a quality presentation. It sparks that spirit of the holiday season like it's intended to do.”

There’s another destination within the fairgrounds to visiting families can partake in, the Christmas Factory, an interactive holiday experience featuring Mr. and Mrs. Claus and their colorful crew of elves. Those purchasing tickets to Bright Up the Night can receive a 10 percent discount, according to Curtis.

“The two events complement each other quite well," Curtis said. “Make it your own experience," Curtis said.

Bright Up the Night is open Thursdays to Sundays from 5 to 9 p.m. through Dec. 10. It will be open daily from Dec. 14 to Dec. 31 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Admission is $25 for standard vehicles, $40 for vans (9+), and $75 for buses. There is a discount for pre-ordering tickets online.
