Alaska State Freestyle Wrestling Championships

WASILLA — More than 1,000 grapplers hit the mats at the Wasilla Multi-Use Sports Complex last week for the annual Alaska USA Wrestling State Freestyle and Greco-Roman Tournaments.

Wrestlers from teams from across the 49th state competed in the tourney. Six of the teams in the event are based in the Mat-Su Valley. The Tri Valley Wrestling Club, which includes athletes from the Colony schools area, won its fifth straight freestyle wrestling title.
