Alaskans Can Now Bid on 204 Parcels in State Land Auction

Residents and visitors who come to Alaska quickly become enamored with the beauty, wildlife, and opportunities for adventure. Many often want to have a piece of their own Alaskan dream and settle down here.

To help, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is inviting Alaskans interested in buying land for themselves to participate in the 2025 Alaska State Land Auction offering #497, which includes a mix of 204 road-accessible or remote parcels throughout the state.

"We Alaskans share a special bond with our land, and these annual auctions are an exciting opportunity to own your piece of The Last Frontier," said Governor Mike Dunleavy in a press release on June 6. “As someone who loves the outdoors myself, I encourage all Alaskans to consider bidding on these fantastic recreational lots. The State of Alaska land sales are just one of the ways that DNR supports the vision of getting more Alaska land into Alaskan hands.”

Alaska residents interested may submit sealed bids online, in person, or by mail through Oct. 1, 2025. Apparent high bids will be announced Oct. 22.

Bidders may win and purchase up to two parcels.

Free auction brochures can be downloaded from the DNR Land Sales website: www.dnr.alaska.gov/mlw/landsales/brochure/.

Parcels not sold at auction may be made available through Over-the-Counter (OTC) sales to Alaska residents, non-residents, or businesses starting on Nov. 19. OTC parcels currently available for purchase are posted on the Land Sales website’s Over-the-Counter section. DNR offers competitive in-house financing for land purchases; for more information visit: www.dnr.alaska.gov/mlw/landsales/info/financing/
