Alaskans don’t like change

To the editor:

In a few days I will be celebrating 20 years in Alaska and one thing I have learned about the people of Alaska is that they do not like change. For example we have only one legitimate Senator we send to Washington, D.C., to work for Alaska. It’s true that there are two in Washington, D.C., but Lisa was not elected when she first went to Washington. She was appointed by her daddy, Frank Murkowski, when he left the Senate to run for Alaska Governor. Instead of having a special election like they should have, she was allowed to step in and take over without any input from the citizens of Alaska. The people allowed it to stand because they don’t like change and she was another Murkowski.

Another one did the same when Sarah Palin quit and left for the Lower 48. Sean Parnell was allowed to step in as Governor instead of having a special election and letting the people of the state of Alaska have a say. And the people of this state allowed it because they don’t like being put out to vote in a special election. They don’t like change and having to get off their collective apathetical backsides to go down and vote.

So Mark Begich is the only duly elected Senator we have and my friends just shake their heads in pity since I choose to live here. Of course, they live in states like North Carolina and Wisconsin and places like that. I just wish they would keep quiet and quit asking me questions I can’t answer. Like why Don Young is still there and other things I have no answer for. At least I have a good reason for not voting. I cast my vote 37 years ago when I was baptized and voted my future votes for the Kingdom of God. Not the kingdom of man.
