WASILLA — The All Alaska Reptile and Exotics Expo is returning to the Menard Center Aug. 13.
This annual event is hosted by the Reptile Barn out of Anchorage. It’s designed to promote the state’s reptile and exotic pet community, featuring a variety of vendors, including Alaskan breeders, veterinarians, suppliers, and rescue organizations.
This huge gathering is a chance for the public to interact with live reptiles and other exotic pets like pythons, boa constrictors, snakes, lizards, geckos, bearded dragons, axolotls, alligators, and tarantulas. There are multiple educational presentations and family activities throughout the event.
Jonathan’s Reptiles owner, Jonathan Huntington previously told the Frontiersman that her organization participates in the event each year, and she’s been very encouraged by the continuously high rate of participation from the reptile community and general visitors eager to learn more about the fascinating animals they work with throughout the year.
“The more people you have breeding feeders and providing animals, and rescue, and education, the better the whole community is in general and the better our animals are,” Huntington told the Frontiersman.
Tickets for 2022 All Alaska Reptile and Exotics are available at the door and online. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. For more information, visit alaska-expo.com or thereptilebarn.com.
