Aloha to Memories: Larson Elementary hosting community farewell luau Tuesday

Larson Elementary School is inviting the entire community to turn the page on a cherished chapter with a tropical twist. On Tuesday, May 19, the school will host a Farewell Luau to celebrate the school's lasting impact on the Mat-Su Valley.

Amidst recent discussions regarding school closures within the Mat-Su Borough School District, this event aims to bring together former students, past and present families, staff, and community members to honor the "Larson legacy".

"Once a Larson Eagle, always a Larson Eagle," said school secretary Kelly O’Malley said, encouraging attendees to share memories and celebrate the school’s dedication to student success.

The evening will feature live entertainment from the Jerry Wessling Band, providing a festive atmosphere for families to connect and enjoy the community spirit that has defined the school for generations.

Limited quantities of Hawaiian food will be provided, adding an authentic touch to the celebratory send-off.

Attendees can expect an evening filled with laughter and nostalgic reflections on the school’s history. Community members are encouraged to join in sending off Larson Elementary with a strong sense of Aloha.

The Luau runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Larson Elementary School, located at 2722 E. Seldon Road in Wasilla.
