Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Amy Frances (Stanford) Thomas, 75, died October 2, 2018 Wasilla, Alaska, peacefully at home.
Amy was born October 25, 1942 in Claresholm, Alberta, Canada to Hugh and Lila Stanford. She graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton as a schoolteacher, in California, she taught elementary classed in Oakland during the mid 1960’s. In 1969 she married her husband, John. Further schooling and travels led them back to Alaska in 1976, and they have lived in Wasilla since 1977. Amy also pursued working in the natural health field as a consultant and life coach for 30 years. She became an American citizen and enjoyed serving her church and community where she was loved by all for her sweet spirit and bright personality. She is survived by her husband; two daughters; and son-in-law Tyan Payne; DC, Richard; their children Kayden, Katherine, Lyndsey, Justus; Christy Hayes, and her children, Austin, Lacey, Andrew, Lyla, Aden, and Ammon, all of Wasilla; her older brother ElRay Stanford and wife Denise of British Colombia, and younger brother LaMarr Stanford and wife Patricia of New York.
Memorial Service will be held on October 11, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 9475 E. Bogard Road, Palmer, Alaska. Across from Colony High School. Funeral Arrangements made by Legacy/Heritage Funeral Home.
