A 28-year old Anchorage man has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and two counts of third-degree assault related to a July 21 home invasion in the Butte.

A Palmer grand Jury indicted 22-year-old Shyheim Chavis on the charges Sept. 28.

According to the initial report, Alaska State Troopers were called to a Butte residence on Plumley Road around 1:15 a.m. July 21, where troopers said two unknown people had entered the residence through a window. The homeowner confronted the two with his own firearm and was shot in the arm by one of the intruders, according to the report. He was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. Another person in the home was not injured. Both suspects fled the area on foot.

Chavis remains jailed in Anchorage on a $500,000 warrant on the charges. Investigation into the additional suspect is ongoing, according to troopers.
