WASILLA — Anchorage’s Superior Logs earned its third straight state title during the 2011 Alaska Coed Open State Championships softball tournament at Bumpus Ballfields in Wasilla last weekend.
Superior Logs were undefeated en route to winning its third title. The Replacements, a Fairbanks squad, finished second in the tourney. The Interior squad fought back through the loser’s bracket, and needed three straight wins to get into the final game.
Superior Logs was one of three Anchorage teams to finish in the top 4. Lawn and Order was third and the Titans finished fourth.
Knik Towing, a Wasilla-based team, finished fifth.
The tourney featured 12 teams. There were two round robin games before teams were placed into a double-elimination tournament. The event was hosted by the Mat-Su Softball Association.
Mat-Su Softball will also host the Alaska Men’s B State Championships Aug. 20-21 at Bumpus.
