WASILLA — The Buckshot squad battled back through the loser’s bracket and won a state crown during the Alaska Amateur Softball Association Men’s B State Championships at Bumpus Ballfields over the weekend.
Runner-up Big AK Stripping of Fairbanks entered the championship game undefeated, but Buckshot scored a win by mercy rule.
That forced a second championship game in the double-elimination tournament, and Buckshot scored a dozen runs to erase an early 12-3 deficit.
Buckshot earned a 22-12 victory, winning by mercy rule in the sixth inning.
Nick Homerding, who was named most valuable player after the tourney, scored the final run.
Homerding was earned the tourney’s silver bat award after batting .860 during the tournament.
