I read the article about the Lions Club sponsored Mud Volleyball Tournament last Saturday in Big Lake. It upset me to read the emphasis on the excessive drinking of alcohol, the bad language and sexual innuendos. Why all the glorification of debauchery?
Our church youth (Faith Bible Fellowship) had two teams, and one took second place. Three years ago, we won the trophy. There were several other church teams and some community high school teams that had a great day without getting sloshed.
Our young people are not perfect, but they do know they can have fun in the mud, using the energy, dexterity, stamina and health their young bodies process. They played hard and got tired, but did not suffer from headaches and hangovers on Sunday. Many of them joyfully praised their creator and heard instructions for living from God’s Word. Ecclesiastes 12:1 says, “Remember your creator in the days of your youth …”
