WASILLA — City resident Arlene “Buddy” Clay, 99, was honored at a reception June 27 in Aniak for her service to the state of Alaska from 1960 to 1977 as a magistrate court judge for Aniak and 12 surrounding villages.
“She was the face of the Alaska Court System during the early years of statehood and through her tireless and intrepid efforts she helped forge a path for justice that is followed to this day. Her dedication to the people of the Yukon-Kuskokwim region and her compassion and concern for those who appeared before her earned her the lasting respect and trust of the communities she served,” according to the program from the ceremony.
Clay was profiled in the Frontiersman on Oct. 30, 2011. Read that story online at tinyurl.com/Arlene-Clay.
