Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident Anita Arlene Cooper, 46, died Sept. 17, 2003, at Valley Hospital after a long bout with multiple sclerosis. A memorial service was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Imanuel Baptist Church in Palmer, with Pastor Ben Burtch officiating.
Mrs. Cooper was born Dec. 16, 1956, in Deer River, Minn. She came to Alaska in 1969 where she lived in Anchorage until 1975, then moved to Eagle River and then to Palmer in 1980. Mrs. Cooper graduated from West High School and attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College.
Mrs. Cooper worked for First National Bank of Anchorage as a teller until 1981, then became a homemaker. She was a member of the Imanuel Baptist Church in Palmer. Her hobbies included music and fishing.
Her family wrote, "Anita has been battling M.S. for 21 years and it has finally won. She was ready to go home to be with her Lord and Savior."
She is survived by her husband Daniel Cooper; sons Ben and Paul Cooper; daughter Jessica Cooper; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Cooper; brothers Wesley, Dennis and Roger Severson; sister Laura Severson; father Ned Severson and three grandchildren Corbin, Nadia and Kayden.
Arrangements were handled by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
