Annual Christmas triathlon held in Palmer

PALMER — The weather held long enough to squeeze in the 12th annual Colony Christmas Triathlon Sunday in conjunction with the Palmer Chamber of Commerce Colony Christmas celebration.

The weather was warm, somewhere in the high 30s at 11 a.m. when the starter’s gun sounded and 62 athletes sped out of the Peak Fitness parking lot on their bicycles.

They biked 10K, ran 5K, then swam 500 meters at the Palmer Pool in the men’s, women’s and team categories.

Athletes came from across the Valley and as far away as Kenai and Kasilof.
