Another wants borough mayor job

Frank Shor filed with intent for borough mayor. An open door to mayor’s office would be enforced. Solutions will be attained and addressed in proper order once brought before the borough’s attention.

I support the Alaska Family Services Instruction and rehabilitation, though not all of these participants can afford to cover the fees and living expenses. These first, second, third offenders have no problem of falling back into old life patterns; we need to find a solution to eliminate a high percentage of this happening.

Hatcher Pass should be a relaxing and enjoyment of the natural beauty. In winter time we should have a lift to transport skiers and snowboarders where it makes a good level of enjoyment down slopes. Thus saving lives from hypothermia and exhaustion to attain a good and fun experience for the participants; with a reasonable fee for the days’ usage.

I support lower taxes; whenever, however available. The redevelopment of the Valley’s agriculture is necessary for Alaska to be self-sufficient. Vegetables, poultry, beef, dairy, pigs, sheep, goats, commercial greenhouses (year round productivity), hay productivity, berries, fruits. This constitutes all types of farming from five acres to large acreages. Giving the farmer tax breaks on property and a cap on the dwellings. This will support the industry to be developed; be supportive to the new processing product development center. Yes, this will take a lot of commitment and equipment that has to be funded by the state’s programs, grants and local Institutions of finance. This will produce a healthy year-round market. Our subdivisions are needed to keep a balanced income growth, but both in proper perspective. New money available to sovereign clients with or without being in partnerships.

Budget expenditures in all categories should be sought by the borough’s infrastructure: programs, departments, maintenance effectively done as needed, reduce electrical waste. We must keep an economical structure within the borough. Since we have a worldwide raging, uncertain economy; we must stay on top without creating a welfare state.

I support a no on IM testing within the borough. I also support eliminating daylight saving time within Alaska. We have limited hunting areas and new areas should be opened up for that recreation within the borough. We should look into the stocking programs for development of good hunting conditions and a fee for usage in a large designated area as a protective game reserve usage for hunting on foot only.

Wasilla, the home of the Iditarod, now has no start up. We need to help develop an event for Wasilla for a recapture of winter income and the excitement of the dog sled racing on a mini trail provided by natural snowfall or hauled in — if available. Lets bring back the “Yahoo!” in Wasilla during the winter.

We should carefully evaluate our schools for improvement on existing structures, attain the most out of each location and hold down overhead cost. A visitation plan will be set up with me as elected mayor to see first hand each school and time for any discussion with the principals.

What a man posseseth in life may not ever reach his total material goals; though, prevailing through each path he endeavors to be there for his fellow man. Maybe the most rewarding of all his goals he had possessed.

When elected as mayor I will endeavor to be your servant to provide the best result for the people.

My background is that of being among the people. A time in the mid-’60s, ‘70s and the beginning of the ‘80s I took a break from Alaska; and returned in the early 2002s; learned first hand how once a beautiful little town grew into a very large metropolitan city, with a high unemployment rate for common labor and crime. We do not want this to happen to the Mat-Su; we want to keep our individuality.

I am also a third-generation farmer. I put my time on farms as a farm hand with farmers of the best we have had in the Valley. I put four years in the USCG after one year at Marion Military Institute, Marion, Al.

I attended Third Class Petty Officer within two and a half years and took full authority in the field during that time. Spent one year on Attu Island in 1962-63; though my goal was to come back and live on the mainland.

My parents both worked in an electronic company and helped put up the first unmanned space rocket and later on my father helped put up the first manned rocket and then on to the moon launch and there after. On my mother’s side I am the 10th generation from President Tyler. That’s when the American borders were much smaller than of today but with economical problems. Schools were not supported very well back then and we certainly should put our full support behind the school system today. Our children deserve the best.

Let us keep the Mat-Su profiting for the next four years as our beloved past mayor would want to see happen if he were in office. Let’s together take the bull by their horns. Thank you for your time and attention.
