Are Anchorage and Wasilla that far apart?

To the editor:

I don’t mean in distance, I mean economic factors, government spending, assembly and city council, libraries — I think so.

Anchorage is cutting costs, closing library times, fighting over funds while the city of Wasilla is buying a building, the Meta Rose Square that produces sales tax revenue, shutting it down and giving it to the library and giving the library building to the museum and who knows what with the museum. And now they talk of buying the post office and making it a police station. No public votes because its money they have in the bank, meaning we don’t have to get a bond loan. No disagreements between the council and the mayor, just amend the budget, spend the money lose the revenue.

Maybe in a couple years the pinch will begin to hurt and the city of Wasilla will begin to sound more like Anchorage fighting over money and tightening the spending belt.
