PALMER — Alaska State Troopers say a dog hopping out of the bed of her pickup caused a woman to drive off the road Wednesday.
According to a press statement, troopers were sent to the intersection of Lazy Lane and Idle Lane at 9:53 p.m.
Troopers say on scene they found that Savannah Favors, 19, of Palmer, had made a right turn in her 1991 Ford pickup when her dog jumped out of the bed.
“Favors slammed on her brakes, her vehicle skidded, left the roadway, sliding down an embankment and colliding with a utility pole,” troopers report.
Damage to the vehicle was $1,000, but troopers say the power pole, property of the Matanuska Electric Association, seemed to only have minor damage. Favors was not hurt but was ticketed for not having proof of insurance.
The health of the dog was not made clear in trooper reports.

teen trouble
WASILLA — A couch burned along busy road garnered a local teen a summons for underage drinking.
Alaska State Troopers say that at 1:40 a.m. Thursday they responded to a couch being torched near Bogard Road.
They pulled over a vehicle at Cottle Loop and Palmer-Wasilla Highway that was reportedly involved in the burn. They identified the driver as Michael Stockman, 19, of Wasilla.
“Troopers further determined the occupants of the vehicle were helping other friends move a couch that was no longer wanted and decided to burn it alongside Bogard Road,” troopers report.
Stockman was summonsed for underage drinking, driving on a revoked license and being a minor who was driving after drinking.
