Arize Entertainment hosting Valentines Day dance at Palmer Depot

WASILLA — Arize Entertainment is hosting a Valentine’s Day dance for teens at the Palmer Train Depot Friday, Feb. 11 from 7 to 11 p.m.

Event coordinator, Sara Post said this event is open to any local teen between the ages of 14 and 18. There will be a live DJ, concessions, vintage arcade games, and face painting throughout the event. There will also be flowers for sale. Post said this event isn’t just for couples and it’s great for groups of friends.

“It’s a good way to shake off the world,” Post said.

Post said that safety is their highest priority and each dance features a large number of security protocols and adult chaperones. She said they enforce a zero-tolerance policy for illicit behavior.

“It’s all geared toward kids having fun in a safe environment,” Post said.

Arize Entertainment owner, Josh Davis said that he started these recurring teen dance nights to provide a safe outlet for teen energy, to establish a sense of community and “good, old-fashioned fun,” especially after so much social distancing amid the pandemic.

“There’s only a couple of things to do for our kids in the Mat-Su Valley,” Davis said.”It’s about letting these kids have the times of their lives And let off the steam from being cooped up that last couple of years. I just really want these kids to have a great time and stay safe.”

Davis said that he was born and raised in the Valley and he wants these to keep hosting these dance events to support local youth.

“I want to do this for years and years to come,” We just want to be a part of this community and to do something positive for it,”

According to Post, they’re starting out with teen dance nights, but they ultimately aim to expand with family dance events and other additions down the road.

“We have the momentum. We’re just getting started,” Post said. “Our imagination is our only limit. There are great things coming.”
