BIG LAKE -- The Big Lake Superstore was robbed by a masked man who entered the store and demanded money at gunpoint Dec. 21.
Alaska State Troopers are investigating the incident.
The armed robber escaped last Friday morning with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to trooper reports.
Trooper reports indicate a white male entered the store on foot shortly after 7 a.m., brandished a pistol at the cashier and demanded cash. He then fled on foot.
The man was described as being about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build and light brown or blonde hair.
He wore a red mask that had black cross-stitching, and a black jacket with a hood, according to trooper reports.
Marguerite Bogert, a Big Lake mother and Frontiersman employee, said it concerned her that the incident took place when children were getting ready for school.
The Big Lake Superstore filled with troopers and the unknown suspect had fled into the area behind the store, she said.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Anyone with information is advised to contact the troopers at 745-2131.
