A woman threatening to kill police is now in custody after a shootout with troopers in Houston on Wednesday afternoon. It began when two Alaska State Troopers (AST) attempted to serve a felony warrant. According to the Department of Public Safety dispatch, as the troopers issued commands for the female to exit the residence directing the female to exit the residence with her hands visible and empty, the female suspect refused and emerged with a gun and pointed it at officers.
Due to her actions, a Trooper discharged their firearm, causing the female to retreat back into the residence. Multiple AST units responded to the scene and following a brief standoff, troopers deployed a drone to secure the scene and confirm the suspect was no longer armed, Troopers entered and found her with minor injuries. She was treated at a Mat-Su area hospital.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation.
Per Department of Public Safety policy, the Trooper who discharged their firearm was placed on seven days of administrative leave. The Trooper’s name will be released within 72 hours.
