‘Art on Fire’ in Wasilla Saturday

WASILLA — Valley Arts Alliance’s fifth annual Art on Fire Iron Pour Art Fest is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 23 at the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry, 3800 W. Museum Drive. Tickets are $10 and children under 12 are admitted free.

Pat Garley offered workshops in metal casting and mold making at his studio in Palmer. These workshops will culminate at the event when the molds are poured full of liquid iron. Also, artist Karen Lopez, who owns Still Waters Pottery in Palmer, will conduct a Raku pottery workshop. The Association of Alaskan Blacksmiths will demonstrate blacksmithing techniques. Judy Vars will demonstrate encaustic wax painting, Sahara Storm Tribal Dance Troupe will perform, and other fiery arts will also be demonstrated.

The Alaska WildBird Rehab Center plans to have live rescued birds for display.

Live music and great food also will be available.
