Artists offer thanks

To the editor:

On behalf of the Mat-Su College Fine Arts Advisory Council, which includes Sharon Allen, Janice Strong, Ilene Paulsen, Cheryl Riggs, Carol Menard and myself, Suzanne Bach, here is a huge “thank you” to those who so graciously participated in the fund-raiser called “Tie the Knot, Community and College” on Feb. 12 at the Palmer Depot.

The thanks start with Shane Lamb, our featured artist whose generous contribution of his wonderful artwork set the stage for a delightful evening. Shane was on board with us from the onset of this venture and was a big contributing factor to our success.

Then there was our fabulous charismatic emcee, John Klapperich from KMBQ, who set the mood for the festivities with his enthusiasm.

The night was more memorable because of the lovely music provided by Naomi (oboe) and Joel (guitar) Stamoolis. Thanks goes out to them for sharing their time and talents.

Our caterer, Turkey Red, did a fantastic job. Our sponsors included the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman, Mat-Valley Federal Credit Union and Let’s Party Event Planners, whose owners Patti Knueppel and Dan Hall, along with their crew, generously provided the decorating and clean up, the sound system and DJ, and the delightful dessert. Their services were outstanding.

Additional thanks to the Mat-Su College Student Government and the Mat-Su College Team Art Club, whose volunteerism and presence before and during the event were deeply appreciated.

Having the participation of all of the above, along with the donations, attendance and support of the community and the college, puts us a big step closer toward our goal of having a 2011 Artisan Festival on campus for community and college.
