MAT-SU - Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly accepted $60,000 in donations for the Sutton Library and Community Resource Center project.
The donations include $50,000 from BP-Alaska, $2,500 from Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union and $7,500 from Friends of the Sutton Library.
The assembly voted unanimously at its Tuesday meeting to accept the donations.
Assemblyman Warren Keogh, who represents that area of the borough, said the project is a big deal for the community and the donations will be well spent.
"I did a walk-through last week, and it's a fantastic facility, extraordinarily significant to the community and to the people up and down the highway," he said. "It's one thing in the community, where there are divisions on some issues, I would say that 95 percent of the folks in the community are 100 percent on board with this new library and community resource center."
