Alaska State Troopers (AST) continue to search for a Wasilla man who fled as troopers tried to take him into custody for several felony warrants on Sept. 8.

On early Friday evening, Sept. 8, an Alaska State Trooper (AST) who was patrolling the Knik-Goose Bay area in Wasilla spotted a vehicle driving without license plates, according to an online press release from AST.

Recognizing one of the passengers as 25-year-old Mat-Su resident Tagaloalagi “Albert” Tuisaua, the trooper attempted to place him in custody when he fled on foot. Ultimately, he evaded arrest and gained access to the vehicle he had originally been a passenger in. Tuisaua immediately exited the passenger door and fled into the thickly wooded area.

Multiple AST and Wasilla Police units responded, and during the pursuit, two trooper vehicles collided, disabling both vehicles and injuring all occupants. Three troopers involved in the collision were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. All were treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries. Both marked AST patrol vehicles sustained significant damage.

“Ultimately, ventually, Helo-3, two K9s, and three drones were utilized, but Tuisaua was not located in the area,” report AST.

Tuisaua is wanted on multiple felony warrants related to three open charges for Burglary 1, 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief, and 3rd Degree Assault from last month. New charges filed yesterday after this incident are 3rd Degree Assault with a Weapon, Failure to Stop at Direction of an Officer, and Harming a Police K9.

According to court reports available online, Tuisaua has previous convictions for 4th Degree Assault, two times Driving Without a License, Driving without Insurance, 2nd Degree Theft 2 (value $750-$24,999), and Burglary 1.

There were reports Tuisaua had been seen in the area near Hollywood Road, however as of Tuesday, AST reports that they are still looking for Tuisaua.

“We continue to encourage Alaskans to provide information about the location of Tuisaua by calling Troopers at (907) 352-5401.”

AST also warns that if anyone sees Tuisaua to not approach him, but to instead call 911.
