MEADOW LAKES — A man on the run since a shooting incident last week was taken into custody Monday and treated for a days-old gunshot wound of his own, authorities said.
Robert Duffy Casello, 28, of Wasilla is charged with attempted murder and first-degree assault for twice shooting Joshua Jensen, 28, of Meadow Lakes about 11:30 p.m., June 17 at a mobile home in the Vienna Woods trailer park on Stacy Street, according to court documents.
Jensen told troopers Casello shot him, but said he couldn’t identify a second man at the scene, who remains at large.
The second suspect had the hood up on his jacket at the time of the shooting, according to an affidavit written by trooper investigator Shayne Calt.
“Casello and Jensen used to be friends but they had a falling out,” he wrote.
Officials say evidence collected at the scene of the shooting — including a security system that captured footage of the burglary — indicates Casello burglarized the residence the week prior, Calt wrote. Though the security system was offline when the shooting took place, he wrote.
A U.S. Marshal's Fugitive task force found Casello at a Wasilla residence, according to trooper spokeswoman Beth Ipsen.
Casello “was found to have an apparent gunshot wound to his thigh that appeared several days old,” troopers wrote in their dispatches.
The circumstances of Casello’s gun shot wound are part of the investigation, she said.
“That’s still to be determined and is under investigation,” Ipsen said.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Alaska State Troopers at 745-2131.
Authorities arraigned Casello in district court Tuesday afternoon. He received $100,000 cash-only bond with a court-appointed third-party custodial requirement.
Jensen remained in critical condition at an Anchorage hospital Tuesday afternoon, according to attorneys at the arraignment. Troopers were still waiting to speak with him.
Both Casello and Jensen had open cases at the time of the shooting.
Casello had prior felony convictions, according to court documents, pleading guilty to second-degree theft on at least three different occasions: twice in 2006 and once in 2010. His open cases were for minor offenses and misdemeanor theft.
Jensen had been previously charged with two counts of drugs misconduct, six counts of weapons misconduct, and one count of felony eluding, court records show
