Attorney needs to reconsider remark

To the editor:

The next time attorney Andrew Weinraub opens his mouth and makes a comment, he should think long and hard about it.

The completely ludicrous assumption he made that penalties for sexual abuse are too severe in the state of Alaska is a complete insult to any person who has ever been abused. I suggest to Mr. Weinraub that he go out there in the real world. Go out and volunteer your time in shelters and clinics for abused women and children. I suggest you look at the scars you can see and pray for the ones you don’t. I suggest you visit school teachers and counselors and hear their horror stories. Listen as they tell you of the lives destroyed and the souls lost from the effects of sexual abuse.

I suggest you search your soul and see what is lost forever when a child is touched by violence. The lives of the abused will never be the same and all your fancy talking will never wash away the nightmares and tears, Mr. Weinraub.

I know you’re just trying to do your job and get your client a deal here, but your comments make you look foolish and very uneducated. Next time, think before you make such an irresponsible comment like that.
