Auditions set for VPA production of ‘Bad Boys Gone Gray’

Auditions for Valley Performing Arts final show of its 35th season are from 1 to 4 p.m., Feb. 19, and from 5 to 7 p.m., Feb. 20, at Valley Performing Arts’ Fred and Sarah Machetanz Theatre, at 251 W. Swanson Avenue in Wasilla.

“Bad Boys Gone Gray,” which plays May 6 to 22, is a related production to “Hot Aging Women I and II,” written by Rachel Underwood, Kerry Ann Byrd and Judy Dossett.

Director and co-writer Underwood is looking for five men in their late 40s to 60s and two to three women in their 20s to 60s who will provide backup vocals and various roles on stage.

This new musical introduces theatergoers to the husband, lover, brother and friends that belong to those “Hot Aging Women,” Jenny, Gertie and Maggie. Meet Don, Aaron, James, Stink and Champ, who get together to create a home for James after his release from the state correctional center for youthful misdeeds.

Valley Performing Arts’ next show, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” plays Feb. 18 to March 6. Tickets are available by calling Valley Performing Arts at 373-0195, or online at valleyperformingarts.org.

Groups of 10 or more may receive a 10 percent discount. The VPA office is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
