Wasilla resident Augustina Ortega, 86, died at home April 18, 2005. She will be cremated and her ashes buried in a family plot in New Mexico.
Ms. Ortega was born July 8, 1918, in Rio Lucio, N.M., where she was raised. She moved to Wasilla on Dec. 13, 2001.
Her family wrote, "Augustina was a loving lifelong caretaker to her parents, until they passed away, as well as to an elderly uncle. In turn, she was cared for by her nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Ortega, until her death."
Her parents, Alfred and Eufemia Ortega; two brothers, Jose and Alfredo Jr., and a sister, Louisa Lopez, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister, Theresa Archuleta of Embudo, N.M.; nephews, Phil Ortega of Wasilla, Louie Ortega of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Issac Lopez of Albuquerque, N.M., Ernest Lopez of Queens, N.Y., Leroy Archuleta of Embudo, N.M., Gilbert Archuleta of Santa Fe, N.M. and Dennis Ortega of Grants Pass, Ore.; nieces, Orlinda Ortega of Albuquerque, N.M., Pauline Mascarenas of Los Angeles, Vita Vigil of Santa Fe, N.M., Gloria Contreras of Penasco, N.M., Joann Vigil of Embudo, N.M., Beverly Archuleta of Embudo, N.M. and Patsy Lacomb of Penasco, N.M.
Arrangements are with Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
