DAWSON CREEK, BC — Wehebe Darge scored a pair of goals to lead the first-place Alaska Avalanche to a 5-2 win over the Dawson Creek Rage in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada, on Saturday.
Evan Janssen, Brandon Brossoit and Mitch Kontny also scored in the win that pushed Alaska’s mark to 23-10-3 overall. The Avs now have 49 points in the team standings. Second-place Fairbanks, which was leading by four goals at Kenai River as of press time, stood six points behind the Avs heading into Saturday action.
Alaska, which snapped a three-game losing streak with the win, continues the two-game series at Dawson Creek today at 1 p.m. AST.
Alaska outshot Dawson 42-35 Saturday. Goalie Nick Kulmanovsky stopped 33 Rage shots in the victory.
