Avoid lines by buying fair tickets online

The Alaska State Fair is right around the corner, and organizers say there are three tips for fairgoers when it comes to tickets -- buy now, buy more and buy online.

At the Alaska State Fair's Web site and through www.fairtix.net, you can purchase single day tickets, three-day passes and season passes.

Those who purchase single day tickets before Aug. 18 get $1 off, while those purchasing three-day tickets get one day free.

At the same Web sites, you can also purchase tickets for special events and concerts. This year's lineup of concerts includes rock superstars Smashmouth and blasts from the past such as Loverboy and Styx. Online, people can also buy Coca-Cola Carnival Zip Strips, which are good for amusement park rides.

Parking passes are also available for purchase.

Alaska State Fair organizers hope online sales help alleviate long lines during the fair, which runs from Aug. 26 through Sept. 6.

Advance tickets can be purchased at www.fairtix.net, at all CARRS TIX outlets and at the Alaska State Fairgrounds, prior to Aug. 18.
