Avs split 2 games

PALMER — Alaska scored three times in a 94-second span midway through first period to spark a 5-3 win over the Fresno Monsters at the Palmer Ice Arena on Friday.

Will Martin and Blake Huppert scored 27 seconds apart to give the Avs the 2-0 lead, and Tyler Briola added a power-play goal a minute later to extend the lead.

Seth Johnson and Brandon Brossoit added third-period goals for Alaska.

On Saturday, Fresno jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for a 3-2 win over the Avs to force the two-game series split.

Huppert and Jake Barber scored in the third for Alaska.

The Avs, 5-6-0, host Dawson Creek on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Palmer Ice Arena.
