ALEXANDRIA, Minn. — The Alaska Avalanche snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Alexandria Blizzard in Alexandria, Minn., on Wednesday.
Tyler Svoboda and Blake Huppert scored to help Alaska build an early 2-0 lead in its first of three games in Alexandria this week. Matthew Friese and Berkley Scott also scored for the Avs, who meet the Blizzard again today at 4 p.m. AST and Saturday.
Former Avalanche forward Nardo Nagtzaam scored the lone goal for the Blizzard. Nagztaam was traded by Alaska to Alexandria in exchange for defenseman Trent Johnson earlier this year. Johnson bagged an assist during his first game back in Minnesota.
Landon Peterson stopped 24 of the 25 shots he saw in the Alaska net.
