Backs Estelle

To the editor:

I am proudly writing this letter of support for Judge William L. Estelle.

I first met Bill in junior high school. He has always been the most honest and fair person I have ever known. Bill’s parents were just like him — upstanding and honest folks who were the kind of people who made Alaska the great state it is.

I have been in Bill’s courtroom several times observing him when he didn’t even know I was there. He showed the utmost courtesy and concern for each person that came before him. He listened carefully to each person and was never condescending. Bill knows how to control a courtroom and he asked meaningful and insightful questions.

Although I moved Outside four years ago after 57 years in Alaska, I still keep in touch with many of my long-time friends and I have heard rumors that this witch hunt to convince voters not to vote to retain Bill is politically motivated...Imagine that...

What I do know is that Bill would never knowingly do anything unethical. He made an administrative error and self-reported that error. That’s what happened. However, the Alaska Judicial Council is doing its best to mislead the voters into thinking it was something else.

I encourage everyone to vote in favor of retaining one of the best men I have ever met, a man who is a fine judge, and a man who is compassionate and dedicated to his job. The state of Alaska and Palmer is very fortunate to have this man as a judge.
