Wasilla High School hosted the 2011 World Language Awards Recognition Banquet April 25 as an effort to promote foreign language acquisition in Mat-Su Borough School District students and foreign exchange programs. It also recognizes the hard work and dedication of the Valley’s English as a second language and foreign language teachers and students. “It has been another exciting year for world languages at Wasilla High School,” said Jennifer Throndsen, MSBSD’s ELL coordinator. “The 2010-2011 school year has been very busy and rewarding for both students and teachers.”

Wasilla High French, Spanish and Japanese students brought home many awards from various local and statewide competitions.

“We are proud of our program, which offers five world languages,” Throndsen said. “We are proud of our dedicated teachers, and especially our talented students!”
