Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Big Lake resident Barbara J. "Bobbi" Fagg, 63, died at her home July 23, 2003, of natural causes.
A visitation will be held at Valley Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, July 28, from 11 a.m. to noon. A funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Wasilla at 1 p.m., with Rev. Mark Conrad officiating. Interment will follow at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery. There will be a gathering of friends following the graveside services at the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Fagg was born May 2, 1940, in Monticello, Ind.
She attended Taylor University for two years.
Mrs. Fagg and her husband became residents of Alaska in 1971. They lived at Elmendorf AFB until 1977. They lived in Anchorage from 1977 until 2000, when they moved to Big Lake.
Mrs. Fagg was employed at the Anchorage Police Department from 1971 until her retirement in 1977.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Fur Rendezvous Board Task Force Commission and an elections volunteer.
She was proclaimed the State Official Mrs. Santa in the Santa Family by the State Legislature in 2002.
Mrs. Fagg enjoyed collecting mushrooms, square dancing, sewing, crafts, reading and collecting Barbie dolls.
Her family said, "Bobbi was a very grand and elegant lady. She was a wonderful wife and an excellent mother and grandmother."
Mrs. Fagg is survived by her husband Joseph Fagg; father, Elbert Crowder; brother, James Crowder; her children, Troy Flagg, Tracy Hyder and Trent Flagg; and grandchildren, Derek Tennant, Tara Webb, Tyler Webb and Hunter Flagg. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Crowder, and her grandson, Justice Hyder.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
