Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Barbara Jean Morin, 42, died Aug. 10, 2005. in her home in Palmer, after battling Lou Gehrig's disease. A service will be held Monday, Aug. 15, at the Lazy Mountain Bible Church at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Bob Lee.
Mrs. Morin was born Jan. 2, 1963. in Los Angeles, to David and Cheryl (Leek) DeVries. She graduated from Chugiak High School in 1981. She was married to Patrick "Rocky" Morin on Oct. 10, 1980, in Eagle River.
Mrs. Morin was raised in Eagle River from the age of 1 and, after graduating, worked for several fueling companies and spent her last four years of work with Service Oil & Gas.
Beyond spending time with her family, she enjoyed snowmachining, raising her dogs, gardening, traveling and outdoor activities.
Her family wrote, "She was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother and enjoyed get-togethers with many family and friends. She will be dearly missed by many."
She is survived by her husband, Rocky Morin; daughter, Rachel Morin; son, Tony Morin; daughter, Nicole Morin; father, David DeVries; sister, Jennie Wyatt; grandmother, Jessie DeVries; aunts, Marie Keen and Jacque Leek; uncles, Mike, Jonny, Andy, and Roy; mother-in-law, Travis Baker; sisters-in-law, Toni Fisher and Kimberly Minoque; brother-in-law, John Morin; grandson, Hayden, and nephews and niece. Josh, Rocky, Justin, Christian, Brandon, Ty and Kaylee.
