Baseball: Moose, Hawks split with Kodiak

PALMER — Luke Guggenmos tossed six shutout innings to lead Palmer to a 9-3 Southcentral Conference win over the Kodiak Bears Thursday night at the Palmer Senior Field.

Guggenmos allowed only two hits to help Palmer improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Southcentral Conference. The junior also contributed on offense, with two hits and a pair of RBI.

Palmer jumped to an early lead with four runs in the first. James Nelson gave the Moose a quick lead with a two-run double, and Cade Holland added another two-run double later in the inning.

Keagan Norman led Palmer with three hits and three runs scored. Nelson collected two runs, two hits and two RBI. Alasdair McKechnie also scored twice.

Palmer added two runs in the second and three more in the fourth.

The game was Kodiak’s second of the day in Palmer. Earlier Thursday afternoon, Kodiak beat Houston 15-3.
