The Wasilla Warriors enjoyed a big weekend as they opened Railbelt Conference play.
Wasilla swept doubleheaders against both Lathrop and West Valley at Wasilla High School, and jumped to 4-0 in the conference.
Wasilla smacked Lathrop 18-14 and 17-8 on Friday. Lalo Palomares had six RBI during the first leg of the doubleheader. He also had three hits and two runs. Hunter Delcour and Aiden Perez scored four runs each. Ramon Guzman drove in three. The Warriors erupted for 10 of their runs in the second inning.
Delcour and Camden Mette followed with three runs each in the second game of the doubleheader. Guzman had three RBI for the second straight game. Six different Warriors had at least two runs scored.
The Warriors beat West Valley 7-6 and 11-7 on Saturday. Wasilla scored five of its seven runs during the first game. Jacob Johnson and Waylon Halverson finished with two hits each. Palomares had two hits and drove in three during the second game. Halverson led Wasilla with three runs scored.
Colony finished 2-2 in Railbelt play over the weekend. The Knights swept West Valley in a doubleheader, winning 2-0 and 10-7. Boman Marks shined on the mound, tossing a complete-game one-hitter in the 2-0 win. Marks fanned 10 and did not walk a hitter. Marks also scored Colony’s first run of the game on a Hayden Sherman single.
Marks followed with two hits, two runs and two RBI in the second game. Sherman drove in four, and scored twice. Hudson Broeder added two runs.
Colony suffered a pair of close losses to Lathrop the following day, falling 9-7 and 4-3. Marks was 3 for 4 in the first game, with two runs and an RBI. Broeder had two hits, two runs and two RBI. Cody Otto and Brock Baker also had two hits each. Sherman, Otto and Easton Cook drove in runs.
Palmer scored a 22-0 win over Grace Christian. Zander Landon led Palmer with five RBI. Mason Miller and Tristan Barrey drove in three runs each. Miller and Reed Craner scored three times. Bridgeman and Marques Hall combined for the five-inning no-hitter, Bridge struck out 10 over four innings.
Kenai beat Palmer 7-3. Landon and Barney drove in runs for the Moose.
Kenai also beat Redington 15-2. Ikaia Flores and Natan Fields scored runs for the Huskies.
Houston earned a 14-4 win over Grace Christian. Ethan Spencer had three hits, two runs and an RBI. Ty Sonnentag finished with two hits, two runs and three RBI. Jayden Garcia and Marano added two runs and two RBI each.
