Basketball scoreboard

After droping its opening round game, the Colony boys' basketball squad won two straight to claim fourth in the Dimond Prep Shootout at Dimond High School last weekend.

The Knights earned fourth place with a 64-43 win over Chugiak on Saturday. Colony senior guard Rhett Manger hit a pair of three-pointers and scored a game-high 14 points in the game. Cade Dickey added 13 for the Knights.

Colony was able to control the tempo of the game with its offense at points in the game and defense in others. The Knights used a 26-12 run in the second quarter to jump ahead and a 10-2 run in the third to keep the

lead.

The Knights advanced into the fourth-place game with an 81-55 win over South Anchorage.

Dickey led the Knights with 24 points in the win. Justin Schwartzbauer added 16.

Joe Hardesty led the Wolverines with 16 points.

Colony scored more than 20 points in three of the four quarters in the game.

The Knights started the tournament with a hiccup, losing to 3A Heritage Christian in the first round. Heritage Christian went on to win the tournament, defeating Monroe Catholic in an all-small school finals.

Colony returns to action in the Valley tonight, hosting Palmer.

Bartlett boys

hold on to beat Wasilla

Although the Wasilla Warriors outscored Bartlett 25-14 in the final frame, the Golden Bears were able to hold on for a 52-51 nonconference win at Bartlett High School on Saturday.

Brad Hobbs hit a pair of three-pointers, scored a team-high 15 points and led Wasilla on an 11-1 run in the final two minutes of the game. Matt Crane added 11 points for the Warriors in a rematch of the 2003 4A state championship game.

Mario Chalmers led the Bears with 25 points.

Chugiak girls

defeat Wasilla

In a match of two of the top girls' teams at the 4A level, the Chugiak Mustangs defeated Wasilla 48-45 at Wasilla High School.

All-state forward Kelsey Griffen scored 10 of her game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Mustangs. Sarah Neuschwander added 14 for Chugiak.

Anne Wesser led a well-rounded Wasilla scoring attack with 11 points. Senior co-captain Jamie Brown added nine points.

Wasilla used a 16-6 run in the third quarter to take a 33-26 lead, but with Griffen at the lead, the Mustangs outscored Wasilla 22-12 in the final frame.

Chugiak shot just 46 percent from the free throw line in the game.

South girls top Colony

The South Anchorage Wolverines defeated Colony 40-32 in Anchorage on Friday.

Kelsey Joynt led the Knights with 10 points.

Colony hosts Palmer in its home opener on

Tuesday.

Su Valley sweeps MCS

The Susitna Valley boys defeated Matanuska Christian School 81-28 on Saturday. The Ram girls defeated MCS 43-13.

Houston sweeps

Su Valley

The Hawk boys defeated Su Valley 44-37 on Friday. The Houston girls earned a 57-20 win over the Rams.
